Show affiliationsA simple theoretical analysis of wet open gradient magnetic separation is given, including the computation of particle trajectories. It is demonstrated clearly that, as in high gradient magnetic separation, 'magnetic' velocity is the crucial parameter in the determination of the performance of the separator.
