A two-regime approach to the dielectrophoretic effect

L Benguigiu and I J Lin

Show affiliations

A quantitative interpretation of the dielectrophoretic effect is presented, the approach being based on consideration of two distinct regimes, namely the dielectric and conduction regimes, under which the force acting on a particle depends, respectively, on the permittivity and on the conductivity differential between the particle and the medium. Illustrative experimental situations are presented.
