Design limitations in mode-degenerate differential phase shifters

P S Chung

Show affiliations

The authors presents the limitations and design considerations for differential phase shifters in degenerate waveguides. He shows that the waveguide should be of the right material which satisfies a number of conditions. Depending on the phase shifter's configuration, waveguides chosen from the 3m or 4mm crystal groups may provide the appropriate electro-optic properties and a large material-dependent factor.
