Resonance radiation power from a high-pressure sodium lamp

Yu-Min Chien and Lin-Tang Chen

Show affiliations

An approximate formula is developed for estimating the radiation power of the resonance line from a high-pressure sodium (HPS) lamp. The formula is shown to reproduce the observed properties of such lamps in a good enough approximation to make it useful and convenient in the design of HPS lamps.
