Show affiliationsThe first four frequency moments of the spectral functions of both the longitudinal and transverse current correlations for liquid sodium are calculated using the interatomic potential and the static pair correlation function obtained by Schiff from molecular dynamics experiments. These results and a memory function approach have been used to calculate the longitudinal and shear viscosities of liquid sodium at 373 K. The results are found to be of the right order of magnitude.
