The divergence of slow-motion lineshapes

A Baram

Show affiliations

A slow-motion approach for spectral lineshapes modulated by rotational diffusion is presented. It is shown that lineshapes resulting from axially symmetric Hamiltonians diverge like tau 1/4, while there is only a weak motional correction to the logarithmic divergence of a non-axial lineshape. The dynamic frequency shift converges to its static limit like tau -1/2 for both cases.
