A crossed-beam coincidence technique has been used to determine cross sections for single and double ionisation of lithium by H+ and He2+ impact within the range 22-2100 keV amu-1. There have been no previous measurements and the results provide as assessment of theoretical predictions based on first Born, close-coupling and classical calculations. Estimates of the separate contributions to single ionisation from electrons in the L and K shells have been obtained from the measured cross sections. Cross sections for one-electron capture have also been determined together with cross sections for transfer ionisation.
