K and L X-ray excitation in very-heavy-ion-atom collisions near K-L level matching

Impact parameter dependences and total cross sections for K and L X-ray production have been measured near K-L level matching conditions at 1.4 MeV/N projectile energy. Comparing different collision systems (Z1>Z2 and Z1<Z2 with Z1+Z2>or approximately=100) the features of those processes which contribute to the excitation are discussed within existing models.
