Page charges are required for publication in The Astrophysical Journal. These cover some of the costs of publication and allow us to more fairly share charges between researchers and libraries. Please be aware that we are published by the American Astronomical Society and do not receive direct funding from any external agencies. Support from page charges allows lower subscription prices and thus a greater circulation for the journal as well as open access after two years.
Page charge forms will be sent automatically on acceptance of a manuscript for publication in the Journal. Prompt submission of these forms will expedite the publication of your paper; we cannot publish until completed and signed page charge forms are received from every institution contributing to the page charges.
